The City of St. Augustine is located on the east coast of the State of Florida in St. Johns County. St. Augustine is the nation’s oldest continuously occupied European city founded by Pedro Menendez de Aviles in 1565. It is approximately 35 miles south of Jacksonville and 56 miles north of Daytona Beach. St. Augustine covers an area of approximately 12.4 square miles and has a population of approximately 12,284.

The St. Augustine Police Department (SAPD) is charged with enforcement of laws, providing a safe and secure environment and responding to the changing needs of the community in order to promote a positive and peaceful quality of life for citizens and visitors within St. Augustine. The SAPD strives to demonstrate excellence in professional police service by promoting continuing education for officers and residents, demonstrating the highest ethical and moral standards and actively adapting to ever-changing community needs.
